The school’s governing body is made up of parents, local people, staff at the school and appointees from the Local Authority. Their role is to oversee management of the school and set out the aims and objectives.

Governors work with the headteacher to manage the school budget, appoint staff and to ensure that the National Curriculum procedures are implemented. A system of governor committees and working groups meet on a regular basis to look in detail at finance, personnel matters, curriculum issues, buildings and maintenance plans and communication.

The governing body can be required to respond to complaints about the school. However, it is appropriate for such matters to be brought to the headteacher’s attention in the first instance.  (The school’s complaints procedure can be found here.)

The full governing body meets at least once a term. Governors are only too happy to discuss their role with parents and listen to suggestions, comments and concerns.

It is important that parents are informed about the governors’ work and decisions.  Therefore governing body minutes are available to view, on request, from the school office.  Full meetings of the governing body are open to parents to observe.  The dates for Governing Body Meetings for 2016-17 are, Monday 26th September, Monday 12th December, Monday 27th March, Monday 1st May and Monday 10th July.

Finally, the governing body is always interested in hearing from people who may wish to serve as governors in the future! When there are vacancies for parent governors all parents are informed and nominations invited.

These are the Governors as of January 2017 Governing Body Matrix – January 2017
