Caythorpe Court - Summer 2023

  • Day 5 - Year 6 @ Caythorpe Court

    Thu 18 May 2023

    Day 5 - Last day

Finally time to say goodbye to Caythorpe Court. Before we left, we still had time to enjoy a final delicious breakfast, two activities and a final fabulous lunch.

Group 1 enjoyed Fencing followed by the Giant Swing.

Group 2 participated in the Giant Swing followed by Archery.

Once our activities were complete, it was into the dining hall for a Fish Friday lunch - fish and chips for many and jumbo sausage (or vegetarian option) and chips for some...with some veggies and/or salad for many too! We had a little down time to burn off any remaining energy before receiving our certificates from Alex our PGL leader.

Eventually, our coach to home arrived. We packed up, said our goodbyes and waved a cheery farewell to Caythorpe Court and the PGL leaders who had made our stay so special.

What a wonderful week we have had...full of challenging activities and fun times with our friends!

We have had spectacular luck with our weather again today - sunshine and warmth all day!

Another day of delicious meals all round - including choices from a full breakfast buffet, bolognese or vegetable pasta and chicken kiev...not to mention choices from the veggie sides, salad bar and dessert counter.

    Today,

    - Group 1 have been busy with High Ropes, Survivor, Rifle Shooting and Trapeze.

    and

    - Group 2 have been enjoying Survivor, Trapeze, Fencing and Rifle Shooting.

So many children have wowed us today by overcoming height fears and pushing themselves to achieve personal bests in other activities. Well done Year 6!

  • Day 3 - Year 6 @ Caythorpe Court

    Wed 17 May 2023

    Day 3

Possibly our most action packed day to date.

Today, Group 1 experienced Archery, Raft Building, Jacob's Ladder and Orienteering.

Group 2 have experienced Jacob's Ladder, Raft Building, Orienteering and the High Ropes Course.

We have all climbed, built, hunted and swung...we've even had a swim in the lake as part of our raft building  We've overcome our own personal hurdles and set more challenging goals for ourselves. All this was fuelled by delicious breakfast, lunches and dinners.

This evening, we will be playing an epic version of Capture the Flag.

    More photos to come tomorrow...

  • Day 2 - Year 6 @Caythorpe

    Tue 16 May 2023

After a good night's sleep, we have awoken to sunshine, birdsong and a fabulous breakfast. Lots on offer to tempt all palettes including bacon, beans, hash browns, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and toast. A lot of happy campers ready for a full day of activities.

    First up today will be:

Problem Solving and Climbing for Group 1

    and

Zip Wire and Problem Solving for Group 2.

    More photographs to follow...

We enjoyed our Zip Wire adventure and impressed our instructors with our 'out of the box' thinking during the Problem Solving Challenges.

After lunch, where we enjoyed jacket potatoes or vegan chilli with rice, we were off again to Abseiling from the tallest tower so far and completed a blindfolded sensory trail. It was great to test our nerves but also trust in our growing teamwork and communication skills.

We've just enjoyed a delicious dinner of either Hunters Chicken or Fish Fingers with potatoes and fresh vegetables. Everyone loved the chocolate muffins for pudding!

This evening, we will be playing Frisbee Golf. MOre photographs to follow...

  • Caythorpe Court - Year 6 Residential

    Mon 15 May 2023

Safe journey from school to Caythorpe.  Arrived at about 2.30pm.  Tour of the site and settled into bedrooms.  Climbing and Zip Wire before dinner.  A lot of happy children!

After a delicious dinner, from choices of Chicken Katsu and Beef or Vegetable Lasagne, the children enjoyed the evening activity called 'Balloon Splash'. Children had to complete a range of hilarious challenges to earn coins before using those coins to purchase mystery boxes. The mystery boxes contained various items to help them build a protective container around their filled water balloon. Only one team was victorious!

Final night and all slept well!  Most of the children needed to be wakened this morning - a sure sign that they are enjoying an adventure and action packed residential.  We have eaten breakfast (delicious again!) and are just about to set off for the Zip-Wire and Fencing!

Looking forward to seeing you all later!

  • Thursday evening

    Thu 24 Mar 2022

No pictures because it was too dark but we have been on a nightwalk up to the top of Beeston Bump where we saw all the lights of the metropolis of Sheringham, gazed at the stars and munched on chocolates (thank you Goodmans!).  The children have returned and fallen into bed.  We are all very tired after an absolutely action-packed day today and look forward to seeing you all tomorrow afternoon when we get back!
