Thank you for taking an interest in Stretham Community Primary School.

There are so many aspects of school life that we could talk about, so we have picked just five areas to share with you: Classes, Food, Playtimes, Rules and Culture.

We hope this article will help you in choosing the right school for you!

Classes

There are seven classes in total: Ladybirds, Hedgehogs, Rabbits, Wrens, Robins, Kites and Kestrels. Ladybirds, Hedgehogs and Rabbits are all Key Stage One. Wrens, Robins, Kites and Kestrels are Key Stage Two.

They have approximately 22 people in each class. With fewer students in the class, it is better because there are spare tables and equipment.

TAs are in most of the classes so you can learn quite a lot in a lesson.

Sometimes the classes join together so you can see your friends.

Food

At break-time, YR, Y1 and Y2 are given snacks for FREE! They get fruit, veggies and milk to help their bodies. Sometimes, the snack could be an: apple, banana, raisins or carrot. Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 do not have free snacks, but they can bring in a healthy snack from home! If you are dairy free or need special milk, you can bring in your own milk.

In our school, there are 5 lunch options: purple (packed lunch), red (meat), green (veggies), blue (cold option) and orange (jacket potato). That is a LOT of options! I recommend packed lunch (purple) because you can put whatever you want in it! We have lunch ladies to make sure you don’t spill your lunch on the floor or to help if you don’t have a knife, fork, spoon or cup.

Rules

Rules are important because they keep everybody safe. We all have to follow them from teachers to Reception. You need to always walk down or up the corridor and listen to the lovely teachers.

We have rules in every class. Class rules in Robin class are: respect everyone and everything, stop talking when the bell goes and listen to the person who is talking. These rules help us to listen and to learn.

When COVID came in some more rules had to be put in place like: we washed our hands more often and we didn’t mix classes anymore. Instead of in-person assemblies, it turned into zoom assemblies.

Playtimes

There are two break times at our school.

The morning playtime is called break-time. It starts at 10:45 and ends at 11 o’clock which means it is 15 minutes long. Morning break is to go to the toilet and to have a drink and a snack.

At lunch-break, you have an hour to play and eat lunch. KS1 have their lunch first then run around. KS2 have a run-around then have their lunch then have another run-around.

Luckily, we have equipment at break-time and lunch-time. When the whistle goes, you have to come off the equipment on the field and onto the playground to put the playground equipment into the equipment bag.

Culture

At Stretham Primary School, we expect everyone to be happy and to enjoy their time here. We respect each other and we have NO BULLIES! If you are alone or feeling down, someone will come and cheer you up. Everybody is welcome to play. We are very, very friendly. As we follow rules, everybody is safe. If there is someone doing something that someone is not supposed to do, tell an adult and this will make it safe and keep the culture happy, enjoyable, fun and safe. You are encouraged to try your best and learn from your mistakes.
